On August 20, 2026, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit.

Taking the opportunity, Sirojiddin Muhriddin conveyed warm greetings from President Emomali Rahmon to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people.

The guest also stressed that further expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Expressing gratitude for the kind words to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly state, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended reciprocal greetings and best wishes to President Emomali Rahmon.

Wishing success for the upcoming consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, the Head of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the future meetings would expand the scope of key areas of the Turkmen-Tajik strategic partnership and serve to strengthen ties between the foreign ministries.

Turkmenistan and Tajikistan actively cooperate in both bilateral and multilateral formats. This is confirmed by mutual support for initiatives to strengthen global peace, stability, and sustainable development within the UN, CIS, ECO, and other international organizations, as well as within the "Central Asia +" ("C5+1") framework.

As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in the CIS this year, it is planned to hold the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth and the Consultative Meeting of the Leaders of Central Asian Countries and Azerbaijan in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone.

In continuation of the meeting, the importance of trade and economic partnership in the context of bilateral relations was emphasized. At the same time, a special role is given to the activities of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.

Noting the new opportunities opening up today for expanding interaction in this area, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the great potential for cooperation in the energy, transport and agriculture sectors.

The cultural and humanitarian sphere serves as an integral component of the interstate dialogue. In this regard, the intention was expressed to continue actively supporting cooperation in this direction through the organization of mutual thematic events.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, expressed confidence in the further dynamic development of friendly Turkmen-Tajik relations for the benefit of the two brotherly nations, exchanging their best wishes.
