Meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles

On 29 April 2026, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Seychelles Barry Faure, who had arrived to Turkmenistan on his first official visit.

During the meeting, the sides noted the significance of this visit by the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Seychelles from the perspective of advancing bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest.

The diplomats emphasized the importance of intensifying political and diplomatic dialogue between the two states, where the organization of reciprocal visits at high and the highest levels serve as a key factor.

The parties discussed cooperation within international organizations, primarily the UN. The Turkmen side expressed its gratitude for the support rendered to the country’s international initiatives and invited the Republic of Seychelles to join the Group of Friends of Neutrality.

The parties emphasized the need to expand the legal-contractual framework for bilateral cooperation.

The foreign ministers viewed opportunities for establishing trade and economic cooperation through joint business forums, exhibitions and trade fairs, and by establishing direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries, primarily in sectors such as transport, the textile industry and tourism.

The sides exchanged views on issues relating to the international and regional agenda. They reviewed prospects for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including education, science and culture. In this context, proposals were set forth to organize meetings between the profile ministries of two countries and to hold Days of Culture in Ashgabat and Victoria.

Upon the outcomes of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their commitment to further development of constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Seychelles.
