Negotiations between the Vice-President for Medical Affairs of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan

On June 25, 2026, a meeting was held between Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-President for Medical Affairs of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Narine Sahakyan, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan.

Warmly welcoming the head of the UNDP country office, the Vice-President of the Charitable Fund noted the fruitfulness and significance of the long-standing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme. In this regard, on behalf of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Oguljahan Atabayeva expressed gratitude to Narine Sahakyan for her personal contribution to strengthening this format of interaction.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet, Narine Sahakyan noted the significance of the efforts made by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People in expanding the partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN. The UNDP Resident Representative also emphasized the readiness of the UN to continue supporting the constructive initiatives of our country.

The Vice-President of the Charity Fund highlighted the successful implementation by UNDP of several joint projects covering priority areas of the socio-economic development of Turkmenistan. Furthermore, the importance of UNDP country programs, which take into account the national development characteristics of each state, was emphasized.

"For the Charity Fund, areas such as improving social well-being, as well as strengthening healthcare and social protection systems, hold particular significance within the framework of the cooperation strategy," said O. Atabayeva.

Speaking about the Fund's activities, O. Atabayeva noted that efforts are primarily focused on providing comprehensive medical and social assistance to children in need of guardianship.

The UNDP Resident Representative highly praised the activities of the Fund and its initiatives dedicated to the well-being of children. In this context, Narine Sahakyan reaffirmed the readiness of the United Nations Development Programme to continue constructive cooperation in this field.

The Vice-President of the Fund noted that alongside the relevant UN agencies, close relations are maintained with the UNICEF Office in Turkmenistan. Currently, cooperation with the UN Children's Fund actively continues based on the Memorandum signed in December last year.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-President for Medical Affairs of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, exchanged their best wishes, expressing confidence in the further strengthening of the fruitful interaction between Turkmenistan and the UN.
